JCB Powerslide 814 HDR

One of the most popular photographic subjects I seem to come across on Flickr are diggers, either new shiny ones, or abandoned rusty ones. I think this is possibly due to their agricultural or industrial settings, and the fact that they can make a dramatic shot due to their size.

This is my take on the subject, a JCB Powerslide 814. Semi-abandoned in a field, with grass growing up around its tracks, its condition really suits the HDR and tonemapping treatment.

Farm no longer open for buisness

This is one of my first HDR and tonemapping efforts with Photomatix. Its a local farm that is up for sale, and I loved the way the gates are chained together and fill the frame without blocking the entire view of the main farm building. I was perhaps a little heavy on the tonemapping and saturation, but its still one of those photos I keep coming back to and taking another look.

The Old Tractor

There are numerous old farm buildings around my local area, and sometimes they have hidden gems in the form of old machinary, some of which probably haven’t moved in decades (or longer!). Decaying, rusted old farm machinary and tractors always look good when given the HDR treatment, and without too much effort a half decent photo can be created.

This is shot is slightly spoilt by the composition, but I was restricted by items just out of shot, so it was the best I could do. I like the fact that the second tractor on the right is also looking a little sorry for itself.
