Kenneth Aldcroft Steam Train – 44806 LMS Stanier Class 5
This is the Kenneth Aldcroft (44806) steam train on the Llangollen Railway in North Wales, 4th January 2009.
The Kenneth Aldcroft was built in Derby in 1944 and is an LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0. 44806 ran in service until 1968, the last year steam trains were used commercially. The engine was then preserved, avoiding the fate of many British steam trains that were stripped for parts and metal.

Another shot of Dane Woodmill (first here), this time processed using the Topaz Photoshop plugin on a single exposure.
Moore and Brock Ltd, Northwich
Moore and Brock builders’ merchants, closed in 1998 due to competition.
This is one of two grade II listed , timber-framed buildings on the site that have been fire damaged after an arson attack. The other had to be demolished.
The building sits on top of the Baron’s Quay salt mine, making any development of the site impossible under a ban on major building.
