Red Admiral Butterfly

One of the most common Butterfly’s in the UK, this Red Admiral was photographed last year whilst on holiday at a National Trust property (which one I can’t actually remember).

Wildlife isn’t really my thing when it comes to photography, but its difficult to resist trying to get a decent shot of one of these flighty creatures when they come near. The biggest problem is trying not to frighten the butterfly away when you get near to it.

What the Duck

If you haven’t done so already, you really should check out the What the Duck cartoon strip, which pokes fun at photographers, and those people around them that either use their services, or just don’t understand them.

My favourite cartoon strip to date is this one, which is a pretty common response from people when shown a half decent photo:

Why is it that when a viewer is presented with a good photograph, its the camera that has created the result, but when presented with a bad photo, its the photographer that is at fault? Regardless, I still cannot see how an expensive (or feature loaded) camera is any better at composing a shot than a cheap camera. I appreciate it may well take a better quality image, but its still got to be pointed in the right direction and operated by someone who knows a little about what they are doing.

Anyway, here is a duck photo in appreciation of the What the Duck cartoon -
