Llangollen Train Station and the River Dee

At the weekend we travelled over to North Wales and the village of Carrog to catch the Kenneth Aldcroft steam train back to Llangollen. The weather was a lttle on the cold side, and there was a typical wintery mist the lingered in the air, reducing visibility down slightly. However it wasn’t enough to stop us enjoying our day out.

Judging by the number of people out in their Kayaks and Canoes on the river Dee, even the depths of winter wasn’t enough to stop some people from making the most of the last free weekend before getting back to work on Monday.

This photo is of the river Dee that runs alongside the train station at Llangollen. If you look closely you can see the footbridge that crosses over the railway line, and the way it sits out over the river Dee so as to give maximum possible foot space on the platform.

The photo itself is an HDR composite of 7 exposures which gives the water that milky smooth look over the rapids. Processing was through Photoshop and Photomatix, with a slight Topaz adjustment made to the final result to add a little more detail.
